Ellen Vargo tag book

Over at the PaperArtsy blog there has been some fabulous yumminess this week! I was tempted to have a go at the 'burnt tin' but given my track record i thought i could end up injuring myself!

I decided to have a go at the tag book (much safer) instead,

These are my 3 tags pages and here is a pic of them all together

I would like to enter this into this week PaperArtsy challenge

Gelato playtime

Back in March my good friend Sam was kind enough to bring me back a set of gelatos from America, to be honest i was a bit scared of them, until Sam said i had to stop being daft, they were just crayons!!

So i thought i would have a play with them in my journal, i gessoed the page first then blended the colours with my fingers, i used the gold one to add a bit of shimmer too. I then stamped the Lynne Perrella script in plum archival randomly on the page. I coloured a separate piece of card with coordinating gelatos then stamped the main image (Lynne Perella again) onto it, i added some accents with a posca pen, the saying is a Wendy Vechi one.

Michelle Webb Class

Last Saturday i went along to Art From the Heart to attend a canvas class by the very talented Michelle Webb, i took some photos of us and on everyone one Michelle said she looked drunk!!

We did lots of painty and inky stuff and i was particularly impressed with the use of florist foam and plaster of paris to make the heart, but as usual i didn't get my canvas finished at the class, i was then at work for the next few days but finally got round to finishing it.

the wings are made of fabric and tissue paper which i stamped in purple script, i am very pleased with this and it may well find its way onto my wall.

Sams challenge

Its been a while since my friend Sam and i did a little challenge so yesterday we both picked 2 elements and had a two hour time limit to complete something. Sam chose metal and acetate and a chose wings and numbers, this is what i made

I did this in my little journal i bought at Version Scrap in Paris, the page already had some mopping up on it from when we all did the giant tags class. I stamped the Paperartsy backgrounds 3 in chartreuse leaf stazon, then stamped the raindrops in deep lagoon versafine. I coloured the acetate with liquitex ink and stamped the PA butterfly on it (it was at this point i realised my acetate wasn't heat proof), i made antennae from head pins coloured with alcohol inks and used a prima metal tag to finish it off.

Oops

Here is the photo of my second challenge

Paris Challenge

As most of you will know by now 4 of us headed of to Paris last weekend to Version Scrap, I didn't take many photos as I was chief tour guide which meant having my head buried in a guide book for most of the weekend!

We did have a fabulous time and bought lots of yummy goodies too.

I challenged the girls to make 2 things, 1 using products they bought at the show and the other using some tissues tht Helen and Lin bought at the top of the Arc du Triumph and were kind enough to share with Sam and I.
this is my page using the tissues, apologies fot it being on its side.

T
his is my page using products bought at the show, it features american crafts paint rollers, Paperartsy stamps and some of the new  metallic inks i bought at the show.

PaperArtsy Challenge

The http://blog.paperartsy.co.uk/2014/02/weekly-challenge-and-winners-february_16.html challenge this week is all about the fabulous Ellen Vargo, here is my effort, i followed the blog post for the background but as i dont (yet) have any of Ellens stamps i used my Kate Crane ones to create the flower instead.

Darcy challenge

Over at PaperArtsy Darcy has started a monthly journal challenge, see it here,  Darcys page had 14 coats of paint on and for my sins so has mine! My arms nearly fell off rubbing back all that paint!!

I am showing you a part finished page as there are some words i want to add that i don't want to share publicly. I have used the same grunge paste, masking tape and painting techniques that Darcy has used and also the rubbing of the stencil under the page is incorporated too.

I really enjoyed layering up all these paints, it felt very therapeutic.

Thanks for looking.

More ATCs

Over at the ATC swap we are having to be super organised as our leader is going on holiday soon. February theme is faces and this is what i did

The backgrounds are dylusions sprays on watercolour paper and the stamp is Lynne Perella,i think these look a bit freaky now i have seen them on the big screen lol.

Bright tags

One of the themes for the tag swap i am part of is brights and this is what i came up with

I used distress stains througout, the background stamps are by Kate Crane and the flowers are Sam Poole for creative expressions.

Although they are not quite 'me' i think they certainly fill the criteria of bright!

Wall hanging

It was the return of the lovely Jo Myhill at PaperArtsy last night and i was inspired to make this hanging, i think i will add some cup hooks to to the plaque, but at present i don't have any.

I used squid ink, eggplant, pansy and moonlight frescos, the plaque was made using the same technique Jo used, but i wrapped it with some silver mesh and raffia. I used imperial purple versafine to stamp on my heart (i then stuck it on upside down twice), then covered it in 2 coats of UTEE.

Its actually quite a bit darker than in the photo but the day is so gloomy i had to take pictures in my kitchen with the halogen lights on!

21 Secrets

Last year i was lucky enough to win a place on 21 Secrets live, i finally got round to watching the first video and the title was 'begginnings'. i have also been looking at The Documented Life project but not sure its for me, but their technique this week was to write on a page and then obscure everything except one word, i thought this idea might be good for my 'beginnings page' only i chose 4 words!

i used black pain to block out my writing, i then coloured some grunge paste with Dylusions inks and put it through a stencil, i think the GP was a bit too runny as it has bled under the stencil but i enjoyed myself anyway.

Thanks for looking.

Journal 52 week 3

Hi

The prompt for this week was 'what makes you smile' now obviously a lot of things do, but what i enjoy more than anything is absolute peace. Those of you that know me already know i don't have the telly or radio on at home when i am on my own and i find this makes me feel much calmer and more peaceful, bonkers eh??

So here is what i did this week

I use my Derwent artbars and portfolio pastels for this as i haven't used them for a while.

Journal 52 cover

Hi

I hadn't attempted my cover for the journal 52 project but didn't like looking at the black page that i saw every time i picked up my journal.

Here is what i made today, the journal is an A4 landscape one.

This is the front

This is the back

juornal 52 week 2

So the prompt for this week at journal 52 was 'somewhere', strangley for my i instantly knew 'where'.

2 years ago we decided to go to Cornwall for the week and while we were there we visited The Lost Gardens of Heligan, it rained most of the day but this didn't spoil what a beautiful calming place it was. My favourite section was a model of a woman laying down made out of mud, truly stunning, and if i lived closer i would spend a lot of time there just enjoying the peace and quiet there.

Here is what i did with the prompt.

I used a technique with paper strips that i had learnt on the Finabair class last year.

Creative day

So i have been told that its a month since i blogged! am glad someone is keeping an eye on me lol.

I have  few days off work (the beauty of shift work) and planned to spend most of my time being creative, i found a group over on Facebook called Journal 52
and thought this might be just what i needed to get my creativity flowing.

The first prompt was "up up and away" and this is what i did

The background is stamped with words and phrases that i want to try to 'believe' in this year, as my resolution is to try to be kinder to myself. I also used my Kate Crane stamps, i thought the arrows worked well with this prompt.

Next i made 3 atcs and 2 tags for a swap i am in, i was lucky enough to get the beautiful Papillion stamps from my good friend Sam for Christmas, the theme was wings so these were perfect.
