Over at PaperArtsy Darcy has started a monthly journal challenge, see it here, Darcys page had 14 coats of paint on and for my sins so has mine! My arms nearly fell off rubbing back all that paint!!
I am showing you a part finished page as there are some words i want to add that i don't want to share publicly. I have used the same grunge paste, masking tape and painting techniques that Darcy has used and also the rubbing of the stencil under the page is incorporated too.
I really enjoyed layering up all these paints, it felt very therapeutic.

Bright tags
One of the themes for the tag swap i am part of is brights and this is what i came up with
I used distress stains througout, the background stamps are by Kate Crane and the flowers are Sam Poole for creative expressions.
Although they are not quite 'me' i think they certainly fill the criteria of bright!

Wall hanging
It was the return of the lovely Jo Myhill at PaperArtsy last night and i was inspired to make this hanging, i think i will add some cup hooks to to the plaque, but at present i don't have any.
I used squid ink, eggplant, pansy and moonlight frescos, the plaque was made using the same technique Jo used, but i wrapped it with some silver mesh and raffia. I used imperial purple versafine to stamp on my heart (i then stuck it on upside down twice), then covered it in 2 coats of UTEE.
Its actually quite a bit darker than in the photo but the day is so gloomy i had to take pictures in my kitchen with the halogen lights on!

21 Secrets
Last year i was lucky enough to win a place on 21 Secrets live, i finally got round to watching the first video and the title was 'begginnings'. i have also been looking at The Documented Life project but not sure its for me, but their technique this week was to write on a page and then obscure everything except one word, i thought this idea might be good for my 'beginnings page' only i chose 4 words!
i used black pain to block out my writing, i then coloured some grunge paste with Dylusions inks and put it through a stencil, i think the GP was a bit too runny as it has bled under the stencil but i enjoyed myself anyway.

Journal 52 week 3
Hi
The prompt for this week was 'what makes you smile' now obviously a lot of things do, but what i enjoy more than anything is absolute peace. Those of you that know me already know i don't have the telly or radio on at home when i am on my own and i find this makes me feel much calmer and more peaceful, bonkers eh??
So here is what i did this week
I use my Derwent artbars and portfolio pastels for this as i haven't used them for a while.

Journal 52 cover
Hi
I hadn't attempted my cover for the journal 52 project but didn't like looking at the black page that i saw every time i picked up my journal.
Here is what i made today, the journal is an A4 landscape one.
This is the front
This is the back

juornal 52 week 2
So the prompt for this week at journal 52 was 'somewhere', strangley for my i instantly knew 'where'.
2 years ago we decided to go to Cornwall for the week and while we were there we visited The Lost Gardens of Heligan, it rained most of the day but this didn't spoil what a beautiful calming place it was. My favourite section was a model of a woman laying down made out of mud, truly stunning, and if i lived closer i would spend a lot of time there just enjoying the peace and quiet there.
Here is what i did with the prompt.
I used a technique with paper strips that i had learnt on the Finabair class last year.

Creative day
So i have been told that its a month since i blogged! am glad someone is keeping an eye on me lol.
I have few days off work (the beauty of shift work) and planned to spend most of my time being creative, i found a group over on Facebook called Journal 52
and thought this might be just what i needed to get my creativity flowing.
The first prompt was "up up and away" and this is what i did
The background is stamped with words and phrases that i want to try to 'believe' in this year, as my resolution is to try to be kinder to myself. I also used my Kate Crane stamps, i thought the arrows worked well with this prompt.
Next i made 3 atcs and 2 tags for a swap i am in, i was lucky enough to get the beautiful Papillion stamps from my good friend Sam for Christmas, the theme was wings so these were perfect.
